Historically, Fendercare has been renowned for its specialisation as a distributor and operator of the Yokohama pneumatic rubber fender.
About Fendercare Marine
Fendercare Marine was founded in 1988 as the UK agent for the Yokohama Rubber Company's range of marine fenders, and has since that time developed into one of the world's foremost suppliers of marine products and services. In March 2005 Fendercare was acquired by James Fisher Plc as part of the company's expansion plans to develop the organisation as a pre-eminent provider of marine services and a specialist supplier of engineering services to the marine industry worldwide, and our 2011 turnover will be in excess of GBP 100 million.
In addition to having regional hubs in the UK, the UAE, Singapore, Brazil, Australia, West Africa and China, the company has also established over 30 operational bases worldwide to support our position as the leading provider of 3rd party ship-to-ship transfer services to the hydrocarbon and bulk transportation markets. Where we don't have an office or an operational base of our own, the chances are that we will have a carefully selected and well trained agent offering local support to our customers.
Our name is something of a help and a hinderance to us these days. As you would expect, it has huge recognition amongst those who have had previous dealings with us regarding the hire, sale or through-life support of fenders or the provision of STS services over the past 20 years or so. But we are also now heavily involved in other areas which are not apparent from our name and which even those who know us well do not always associate us with, such as:
- Designing and supplying marine and offshore mooring and berthing systems and related equipment
-Providing commercial diving services, systems and equipment for civil, shipping and offshore work
-Owning and operating a fleet of 10 tugs and support craft, mainly working off West Africa, offering bunkering and other support services in the region
We deal with all the main maritime sectors: offshore, commercial marine, naval, leisure and the burgeoning renewables industry. As you might expect, we have both ISO 9001:2000 and ISO14001 certification as well accreditation with / membership of a whole host of sector-specific and region specific organisations such as FPAL, NIPEX, IHMA and OCIMF.
They're just the bare facts, and a lot of other companies working in this industry fill their "about us" pages with similar development trajectories and worldwide possibilities. So let's tell you something about what differentiates us from others.
We're not just a trading company, looking to sell products on for a margin. We are a maritime company, able to bring the expertise of our marine personnel to understanding our customer's operational issues and to then delivering either a service or a product-based solution which best meets each unique set of operational requirements. Sure, we still have a catelogue and we're more then happy to sell people a simple shot of chain from it. However where we're at our best, and where we can offer maximum value to our clients these days is when they're bringing us their problems and asking us to work with them to understand the safest yet most cost-effective way in which these problems can be addressed. Which we do with both immense professionalism and a cheery smile. Why not try us out?
